چکیده

Interference with the removal of oxaloacetate through citrate formation would naturally impair the catalytic oxidation of pyruvate. The inhibition of oxygen uptake stimulated by aspartate may well be another consequence of the same effect. A similar explanation can be offered for the inhibitory effect on glutamate oxidation, since oxobutyrate inhibits the removal of oc-oxoglutarate as well. a-Oxobutyrate, which inhibits the utilization of x-oxoglutarate, presumably enhances its formation from added citrate. Montgomery & Webb (1956) have reported a similar effect with another inhibitor of oxoglutarate oxidation, namely parapyruvate, in the presence of which the unaffected sections of the Krebs cycle proceed at a more rapid pace.

Serum Paraoxonase 1 Activity in Patients with Organophosphate Poisoning: A Potential Indicator of Prognosis

Background: Human serum paraoxonase 1 (PON1) hydrolyzes organophosphate (OP) compounds and so significantly alters an individual’s susceptibility to the toxicity of these chemicals. The study was designed to assess the serum PON1 activity in a series of patients with OP poisoning. Methods: Suspected OP poisoning patients presented within 6 hours of...

Properties of "usual" and "atypical" serum cholinesterases using o-nitrophenyl butyrate as substrate.

The effects of varying concentrations of sodium chloride and formaldehyde on the activity of “usual” and “atypical” serum cholinesterases using o-nitrophenyl butyrate as substrate have been examined. The atypical enzyme has been shown to be more sensitive to either inhibitor than the usual enzyme. These results indicate two new methods for differentiating the two variants using a noncholine est...

Comparative Measurement of Serum Acetyl Cholinesterase Enzyme Using Three Different Methods

Introduction: IAChE (acetylcholinesterase) is one of the plasma’s enzymes that plays a crucial role in nervous signal transduction in synapses and is responsible for the hydrolysis of Ach. Material & Method: We investigated three methods for the determination of AChE in human blood serum, using three different assays. Michel methods are based on the measurement of hydrogen ion produced in pro...

Hydrolysis of malathion by ali-esterases in vitro and in vivo.

The structure of malathion, S-[1,2-di(ethoxycarbonyl)ethyl] 00-dimethyl phosphorodithioate, has suggested to many investigators (e.g. Murphy & Dubois, 1957; Seume & O'Brien, 1960) that hydrolases may be involved in the synergism observed by Frawley, Fuyat, Hagan, Blake & Fitzhugh (1957) between malathion and O-ethyl O-p-nitrophenyl phenyl phosphorothioate. On the basis of their known substrate ...

Interaction of Human Serum Albumin with Ethyl 2-[2-(dimethylamino)-4-(4-nitrophenyl)-1,3-thiazole-5-yl]-2-oxoacetate as a Synthesized Ligand

The interaction of human serum albumin with Ethyl 2-[2-(dimethylamino)-4-(4-nitrophenyl)- 1,3-thiazole-5-yl]-2-oxoacetate was investigated by using isothermal titration UV-visible spectrophotometry in tris-buffer, pH 7.4. According to these results, it was found that there are a set of 4 binding sites for this ligand on HSA with positive cooperativity in the binding process. This thiazole deriv...
